1 Pennyburn Road, Kilwinning
Pennyburn Road was a speculative office development totalling 20,565 sq ft in a location which would not normally see development of this type. The site is however adjacent to Killwinning Railway Station which provides frequent services to Glasgow and all other parts of Ayrshire and, with the Scottish Executive’s policy of decentralisation of government departments, it was felt that there was a lack of quality modern accommodation available.
This was proved to be the case and the building was let while still under construction to the Scottish Ministers to relocate the Accountant in Bankruptcy. The quality of the building was recognised by the British Council for Offices who awarded the building the 2007 Regional Winner Small Projects Scotland.
